Hounslow Council consulting residents on travel policy

Hounslow Council is encouraging residents to take part in a survey which it says will help shape its transport and travel policy going forward.
To make your views know you can place a pin on an online map and give details of what changes you would like to see at this location.
The consultation, entitled Moving Forward, seeks the views of local people on a range of transport-related issues including health, sustainability, road safety and accessibility.
Council transport planners want to know more about how people currently travel around the borough for work, shopping and leisure and how they would like to travel in the future.
The borough's existing Transport Strategy was last published in 2019 and predates the changes in patterns of travel since the pandemic.
Since that time, the council says it has spent £5million on infrastructure improvements including 29 new pedestrian crossings.
It adds that it has helped deliver step-free access at Syon Lane and Isleworth railway stations with further funding confirmed to investigate access improvements at Kew Bridge and Gunnersbury Stations as well as Hounslow West Tube Station.
New bus priority measures have been delivered, helping to reduce bus journey times and improve reliability.
90% of the borough's roads now have a 20mph speed limit and key sections of Cycleway 9 and Cycleway 40 have been delivered. 37 School Streets have been introduced and 400 electric vehicle chargepoints have been installed, although some have needed to be removed after technical failures.
The consultation will take place in two phases to be rolled out over the months ahead. The first round will gather information about current transport trends and residents’ aspirations for the future.
The information from this will be used to update the borough’s current Transport Strategy. The Council will then ask residents for their views on the details of the plan.
The council says it is already using feedback received in recent consultations including on parking and kerbside strategy, even though fewer than three hundred people participated.

We urge our residents to share their voices and participate in this consultation, shaping the future of travel in our borough.”
