Parents and guardians in the London Borough of Hounslow are being urged to check out the range of activities to keep the kids busy over the Easter holidays and beyond.

Families can take full advantage of a whole raft of free online sports, games and challenges, from: dancing, cooking, theatre to yoga, gardening and many more.

Any family that is entitled to benefits-related free school meals can also apply for a free place for their child at a range of holiday clubs and activities. Funding has been provided by the Department of Education. More information here.

Further details can be requested from their school. For those families that can afford to pay, there will be a charge.

All are being encouraged to get involved and take advantage of the improving weather conditions with challenges that put the mind and the body through its paces.

The Council has teamed up with its partners across the borough to make access possible over the forthcoming Easter, Summer and Christmas holidays during 2021.

Visit Synergy - Enquiry (hounslow.gov.uk) to see the range of activities available.

For those parents who take care of a disabled child, the Council’s Short Breaks for Disabled Children programme is open so families can have a well-deserved rest together and enjoy some down time.

Steven Forbes, Hounslow's Executive Director of Children's and Adults Services, said, “We know that school holidays can be extremely challenging for families who live on a low income.

“This year has been especially tough because of the coronavirus pandemic, which has disrupted schooling and had a financial impact on many of our residents.

“School holidays should be a chance for children to have fun experiences, socialise with their peers and make lasting memories – and no child should miss out on that.

“We encourage families to visit our website and look at the wide range of online and outdoor opportunities for them to get involved in.”

Articles such as the one above are integral to what we do. We aim to feature as much as possible on local societies, charities based in the area, fundraising efforts by residents, community-based initiatives and even helping people find missing pets.
