Group informed of donation from Utilita Giving during visit
January 22, 2024 Fifty-five volunteers who regularly help out at Hounslow FoodBox were invited to Brentford FC GTech stadium this Wednesday (17 January) in recognition of their efforts. They were treated to dinner and drinks by the club which has a long-established relationship with the local foodbank which is based in Brentford. The event was also supported by Utilita Giving which supports people who are experiencing fuel and/or food poverty. The charity raised £1,000 for Hounslow Foodbox at a matchday takeover at the stadium during a game in December. During the event, which was held in the Railway, the event lounge at the ground, the volunteers were told that Utilita Giving were matching the £1000 raised to make a total £2000 donation to the cause. Afterwards the group were offered a behind the scenes tour of the stadium, including a walk through the ‘tunnel’ to pitch side. FoodBox Operations Manager, Sunny Kharbanda, said, ‘It was really humbling for all the FoodBox volunteers – who give so much to the community in terms of time, energy and resource – to receive such wonderful recognition for everything they do. We very much value our relationships with all of our sponsors and supporters and hope – while there is still a need – to be working in partnership with them for many years to come’. Hounslow Community Foodbox collects food parcel donations at the Rose Community Centre in Brentford (TW8 8NT).
