550 people to receive box of goodies over the holidays
April 5, 2023 This Easter, 550 adults and children will receive a special hamper, packed with goodies from Hounslow Community FoodBox. The recipients have been nominated by the foodbank’s referral partners and were already receiving support from them. Volunteers including staff at Brentford FC and Hilton Heathrow, came to the Heathrow warehouse of Alexanders Removals & Storage Ltd, a long time supporter of Hounslow Community Foodbox, to help pack over 150 hampers last Saturday (1 April). The volunteers were surprised and thrilled to be joined by first team defender for Brentford FC – Nadia Peters. This allowed the packages to be delivered to homes around the borough, in good time for the long weekend. Each hamper contained a recipe kit (for Moroccan Couscous & Chickpea Salad), chocolate eggs and biscuits. Children also received toys, books, or vouchers for a local soft playcentre, museum visits, signed Brentford player photos and a bunch of spring flowers. Hounslow Community Foodbox Treasurer, Philip Jones, said, "It’s wonderful that with the strong support of Alexanders Removals & Storage, Brentford FC & Hilton Heathrow, we are able to provide 550 adults and children in Hounslow with some special treats this Easter - a recipe kit, chocolate eggs and biscuits, gifts for children, spring flowers. With so many struggling to put food on the table, it really is a pleasure to be able to give some extra help and cheer at this time of year." Alex Pope, director of Alexanders Removals & Storage, said, “We are pleased to have contributed to spreading joy and hope through our hamper baskets, which we believe will bring comfort and happiness to numerous people this week. Our efforts are aligned with the shared vision of local businesses and organisations to make a positive contribution to the community”.
