Two Cats Killed in Fire in Warple Way Flats

London Fire Brigade has said that two cats have died after a fire broke out in a block of flats in Acton this Sunday evening (3 November).
The blaze, which took hold in Edison Court off Warple Way, was first reported to the 999 control centre at 5:48pm and 20 calls were received to what the brigade describes as a ‘very visible fire’.
Eight fire engines with around 60 firefighters were sent to the scene with crews from Acton, Chiswick, Kensington, North Kensington, Paddington, Ealing and Chelsea fire stations were in attendance and they had the fire under control within an hour.
Part of a three roomed flat on the fifth floor in the seven-storey block of flats was destroyed. Other than the cats, no other injuries have been reported.
The Fire Brigade says the fire is being treated as accidental and is believed to have been caused by the unsafe disposal of smoking materials.
A London Fire Brigade spokesperson added, "If you smoke it is vitally important you stub it right out, preferably in an ashtray.
"Always ensure your cigarette is completely out when you’ve finished smoking it. If you don’t, you risk causing a fire as you don’t know what it may land on which could potentially start a fire."
