Wants to hear from residents on issues such as anti-social behaviour
April 26, 2023 The MP for Brentford & Isleworth is aiming to find out more about her constituents’ views on crime and anti-social behaviour by launching an online crime survey. Her poll covers a number of topics including the type of crime people have witnessed locally and what areas local residents want the police to focus on. Although there is no evidence of a significant rise in crime in the area people have consistently voiced concerns about issue such as car theft, robberies of children’s mobile phones and knife crime. After launching her survey, Ms Cadbiry said, ‘‘I know how concerned people locally are about crime and anti-social behaviour. Whether it’s drug dealing, car thefts or burglaries people rightly want to see more being done to tackle crime locally. My latest crime survey will help me when I regularly meet with and speak to both senior police officers and council officials about the extra work we can do to tackle crime locally, and protect and support victims of crime. ‘‘We’ve made good progress over the last year in tackling crime, including with the new dedicated policing team for Hounslow Town Centre. However, I know that there is much more that we can do, especially because of the impact that a decade of funding cuts to policing has had. ‘‘My previous surveys on violent crime and mental health services have really helped me get a further understanding of issues locally, and has helped me ensure the voice of local residents is heard loudly and clearly in Westminster. I would really appreciate if as many people locally could fill in my survey and also let their friends, family and colleagues know about it if they also live locally.’’ The survey can be filled in online using this link.
