Warm Spaces Being Provided Over the Winter |

Helping people keep energy bills down and get support
November 19, 2024 More than 25 warm spaces are being provided over the winter period across the borough of Hounslow including ones in Chiswick, Brentford and Isleworth. The council is relaunching this initiative in partnership with voluntary sector partners and faith groups. It aims to offer welcoming spaces where residents can keep warm and gain support. Now in its third year, there will be a variety of offers available at different locations across the borough. This includes information, advice and guidance on issues such as money management and employment, as well as access to free Wi-Fi and a place to connect with others through a range of activities. Once again, The Six Bells at 148 High Street, Brentford, (TW8 8EW) is taking part. Residents can visit for a small lunch plate and bottomless tea or coffee at a low cost. As the winter gets colder, residents can also access soup for free at the Six Bells. From 12-3pm (every Monday-Tuesday, Thursday-Friday , residents can stay warm play board games, save on heating costs, and spend the afternoon with company. Every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday 12-3pm This offer will be available over Christmas excluding Christmas day and New Year’s Day Family Hub East on North Road Brentford (TW8 0BJ) aims to provide a friendly and safe environment for babies, children, young people, parents and carers to access support and services they need. It offers a single point of contact for families with children aged 0-19, or up to 25 years old if they have special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). Family Hubs deliver a range of services, focusing particularly on parenting support, infant feeding support, early language support and perinatal mental health support. It is open Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm but will be closed from 20 December, and reopen on 2 January. Libraries across the borough will be open for people to visit, keep warm and use wifi. Opening times differ during the Christmas period and no libraries are open on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day. The Community Hub at Brentford Library is open every Friday from 10am to 2pm.Chiswick Library is open on 27 December from 9am to 5.30, and 28/30/31 December from 9.30am to 5.30pm. Osterley Library is open on 28, 30 and 31 December from 9.30am to 5.30pm Residents can come in to Isleworth Leisure Centre to keep warm, have a free hot drink, use wifi. This can be accessed in the Leisure Centre on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays in the Community Studio from 11am to 2pm. Residents can also access Isleworth Library on Mondays and Thursdays from 9:30am to 8pm, and Tuesdays and Saturdays from 9:30am to 5:30pm. Residents can come in to Osterley Sports and Athletic Centre from Monday to Friday, 11am to 2pm. Hounslow Council’s Cabinet Member for Resident Support, Communities and Equalities, Councillor Ajmer Grewal, said, “We know many of our residents are still struggling with the cost-of-living and such pressures will only be exacerbated in the run up to Christmas and with the weather getting colder. “That said, this initiative isn’t only about saving money on energy bills but about hosting a warm and inviting space for residents to connect with our services and partner organisations.” For more details on the timings and specific sessions, click here.
