This year marks the 70th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s accession to the throne making her the first British monarch to reach a Platinum Jubilee.

Buckingham Palace has announced a range of Jubilee celebrations throughout the year, with a focus on a four-day bank holiday weekend from Thursday 2 to Sunday 5 June.

To support people across the borough to mark the occasion, Hounslow Council is waiving all street party fees and grants of up to £1,000 are available through the Thriving Communities Small Grant to fund community celebrations.

The Council itself will be organising an event to coincide with the national beacon lighting celebration on the evening of 2 June.

Jubilee celebration grants can be applied for through the Council’s existing Thriving Communities Small Grants fund. The fund will be open for applications from March 21. Applications usually take two-to-four weeks.
