28-year-old suspect arrested on suspicion of murder
June 13, 2025 A 30-year-old man was fatally shot in a residential street at the rear of Charing Cross Hospital this Wednesday night (11 June). The emergency services were called to the scene on Claxton Grove at 11:19pm where they found two men with gunshot wounds. They were taken to hospital but one of them, a 30-year-old man, died the following day. His next-of-kin have been informed. The other man, also in his 30s, was treated for minor injuries and has since been discharged from hospital. A 28-year-old man was initially arrested on suspicion of attempted murder but after the death of the man in hospital he was re-arrested on suspicion of murder, and remains in police custody. Detective Chief Superintendent Christina Jessah, from the Central West Command Unit, said, “Our deepest sympathy is with the victim’s family who are being supported by specialist officers at this time. “This is a shocking crime to occur in any community, and we thank locals for their patience.
