Hounslow Helps Green fingered Gardeners to Get Going This Spring

Council unearth their Garden Waste Collection Service

Spring is on its way and your garden is bursting into life again. But don’t forget to recycle all that green garden waste by using the Garden Waste Collection Service. It’s easy to use allowing disposal of your green waste in a responsible way as well as helping you do your bit for the environment at the same time.

Hounslow Residents recycled a massive 1247.36 tonnes last year, that’s around the weight of 1050 family sized cars! Waste Reduction and Recycling Officer Nicola Taylor said, ‘This is a fantastic effort by residents, so well done!’ She said, ‘please keep up the good effort to recycle garden waste other than placing it out for the black sack rubbish collection, which won’t be collected’.

She goes on ‘We’ve been set some tough recycling targets by the Government, and the only way we will be able to meet them is if more people reduce, re-use or recycle their rubbish’.

From 5 March, the Summer Service resumes, with weekly collections from the edge of your property on your usual collection day. There is no need to book a collection for the Summer Garden Waste Collection Service.

To take advantage of the service, you must use only London Borough of Hounslow biodegradable Green Garden Waste Collection Sacks, bought from ECT Recycling Ltd, from your local library, or from the Civic Centre, Lampton Road (£2.50 for a pack of five).

1. Order sacks online, using a debit/credit card. Log onto www.ectrecycling.co.uk/hounslowgardenwaste

2. Order sacks over the telephone, using a debit/credit card. Please call ECT Recycling on 020 8813 3191/3192.

3. Fill in the order form and enclose your cheque/ postal order before sending it to: ECT Recycling Ltd, P.O. Box 287, Greenford, Middlesex, UB6 9ZH. Cheques/postal orders should be made payable to ECT Recycling Ltd. Please remember to affix stamp.

4. You can also buy sacks over the counter at your local library or from the Civic Centre, Lampton Road

Please leave your full bag/s at the edge of your property on your collection day BEFORE 7am. Please do not put plastic bags inside your biodegradable green Garden Waste Collection Sacks. For all sack sales or collection day enquiries, please call ECT Recycling Ltd on 020 8813 3191/3192.
