Gunnersbury Park To Start Charging for Parking in May
'Introductory' rate will be 50p an hour with no maximum stay

It has been announced by the management of Gunnersbury Park that charges in the car park will be introduced on Sunday 1 May.
Previously it had been proposed that the hourly charge would be £1 with a 4 hour maximum stay but this has been amended to an hourly charge of 50p with no limit on the length of stay.
There will also by an option to pay 75p for a 90 minute stay.
The 50p an hour rate is described as introductory but no plans to raise the amount charge was specified.
It is understood that the removal of the four hour limit came after complaints from sports clubs, particularly cricket teams, that such a limit would be impractical for them and would require them to park on local residential streets.
Visitors can pay either by the app or the card payment machines and here will also be a 20 minute grace period before charges start to allow for drop offs/pick ups.
Blue badge holders will not be charged and can park in the disabled car park by the museum and the main car park.
In the statement announcing the new charges, the park’s management says, “We hope this change will allow Gunnersbury to remain open and accessible to our local communities, whilst still bringing in vital funds that we intend to use for essential maintenance and park upkeep.
“Surplus funds generated from car parking income will be spent on essential park maintenance, including vital repair work on the paths around the park. We have a target of £80,000 in the first year to spend on this essential park maintenance, which will make a real difference in keeping Gunnersbury a thriving place for our communities to enjoy.”
Charges will apply at all times and will be enforced by ANPR cameras in the main car park.
It is believed that no management fee is being paid to the parking contractor Gemini Park Solutions which will generate all its income from fines. Gemini Park Solutions is a member of the British Parking Association and runs a number of other ANPR parking facilities across the country.
