On Wednesday the 11th June 2008 Southfields Safer Neighbourhoods Team attended a flat in Neville Gill Close SW18 with three Dog Section officers, including an expert in Dangerous Dogs.

The Safer Neighbourhoods Team had good reason to believe that the occupier of the flat had dogs on the premises that maybe American Pit Bull type dogs.

When the occupier answered the door it was obvious that one of the dogs contravened the Dangerous Dogs legislation.

Police entered the flat and fully examined both dogs. The expert decided that one of the dogs was an American Pit Bull type and removed the dog from the address.

Sergeant Mepham of the Southfields Safer Neighbourhoods Team said:

‘The removal of this Pit Bull Terrier by the Southfields SNT is one of the ways we have responded directly to the concerns of people on our Ward’.
