Caroline Holmes to give The Arts Society Chiswick's January Lecture
A Symphony in Blue

The Arts Society Chiswick starts the New Year with garden historian Caroline Holmes giving a talk about the Majorelle Garden in Marrakech.
The lecture has two parts entitled “A Symphony in Blue – The Artist, the Couturier and “Atlas, the Most Fabulous Mountaine of all Africke” .
After extensive travels in the Atlas Mountains, Jacques Majorelle was inspired to create glorious blue dominated canvases and a garden in Marrakech. His blue horticultural testament was saved by Yves Saint Laurent who tailored the garden with pattern and panache and created a foundation for its survival and public entry.
Caroline Holmes is a garden historian, award-winning writer and design consultant. She lectures for Cambridge University ICE, museums, specialist travel companies and online for The Gardens Trust. She has published 12 books including Water Lilies and Bory Latour-Marliac, the genius behind Monet’s water lilies; Impressionists in their Gardens; Follies of Europe: Architectural Extravaganzas; Monet at Giverny and Icons of Garden Design.
The event takes place at 8:00pm on Thursday 12 January 2023 at POSK on King Street Hammersmith.
Doors open at 7pm, as does the private bar. The lecture will start at 8pm and guests are welcome with a payment of £10 on the door.
