Brentford FC Opens Safe Haven at Gtech Community Stadium

Brentford FC has unveiled a new 24/7 Safe Haven at its Gtech Community Stadium, reinforcing its commitment to women and girls’ safety and providing round-the-clock support for anyone feeling vulnerable in the local area.
The west stand security hub on Lionel Road South has been accredited as a Safe Haven by the Safer Business Network. Open every day of the year, the hub will be staffed by trained security personnel equipped to assist with a range of needs — from contacting emergency services and arranging transport to offering a safe space and onward support.
Safe Havens are designed to provide immediate help to those who feel unsafe or at risk. Brentford’s accreditation ensures that fans, residents and visitors can access support at any time, not just on matchdays.
Chief executive Jon Varney said: “We are a club that sits in the heart of the community and it is vital that we are able to support our fans and those living in the local area. In creating a Safe Haven space at our stadium, we are ensuring there is help available for anyone at any time of day.”
The initiative builds on Brentford’s wider work to create inclusive and safer environments, particularly for women and girls.
Brentford’s home fixture against Burnley on Saturday 29 November will be dedicated to White Ribbon Day, the annual campaign to end gender-based violence. Ahead of kick-off, the Metropolitan Police will be outside the stadium with their promotional bus to engage fans about their Violence Against Women and Girls plan.
After the final whistle, officers will lead a ‘walk and talk’ session from the Bees Superstore, escorting fans home while giving them the chance to raise safety concerns.
This week, Brentford will also host its first active bystander training session for supporters. The training, supported by club partner DeterTech, aims to empower fans to safely intervene if they witness harassment or abuse.
Players Fábio Carvalho, Mathias Jensen and Ellery Balcombe have helped raise awareness by appearing in a video with the British Transport Police, sharing practical steps on how to disrupt incidents of harassment on the rail network.
Brentford signed up to the Women’s Night Safety Charter in 2023, part of the Mayor of London’s strategy to tackle violence against women and girls. The club has also introduced the Ask for Angela scheme at the Gtech, enabling women and girls to discreetly seek help from staff if they feel unsafe.
