A man has been killed after a four vehicle pile up on Argyle Road. The collision took place just before midnight on Sunday 10th December near the A40.

A Renault Laguna was in collision with a Vauxhall Zafira, a bus and then a Kia saloon.

The driver of the Kia, a male in his seventies, was taken to Ealing Hospital where he died at 03:55 on Monday 11th December. He has been formally identified as Richard William Hardy aged 73 years of Watford. The driver of the Renault left the scene but was later traced.

He has been arrested on suspicion of drink drive, death by dangerous driving and failing to stop after a personal injury collision. He has been bailed to return to pending further enquiries on a date in March next year.

The driver of the Vauxhall was taken to hospital with neck injuries. His condition is stable. No-one else required hospital treatment.

The incident is being investigated by the Collision Investigation Unit at Alperton Traffic Garage on 020 8998 5319.
