Council Wants Views on New Flood Risk Strategy
Action plan aims to increase resilience to flooding in the area

Wandsworth Council is seeking the views of residents on a new Action Plan to reduce flood risk in the borough.
It is updating its Local Flood Risk Management Strategy (LFRMS) and wants residents and businesses to contribute to make sure it’s effective in meeting the public’s needs.
The LFRMS identifies local flood risk and how it can be best managed, as well as identifying the roles and responsibilities of the organisations tasked with tackling flood risks.
It includes a six-year Action Plan detailing how the council and other agencies will manage flood risks in the local area and increase resilience to flooding.
The most recent strategy was published in 2015 and now needs updating to include all of the work that has been completed since then to manage and reduce flood risk as well as changes to water industry policy and regulation. It also incorporates an updated Surface Water Management Plan, along with the Environment Agency’s new flood risk management plan.
The council says it is vital that residents and businesses give their feedback to ensure the plan continues to meet the needs of those who may be affected by flooding.

People are being asked to read it and digest its contents before submitting their views via an online survey on the council’s website.
The website has further information that can help inform the consultation, which will run until 3 May.
