Brentford & Isleworth MP Ruth Cadbury has completed the London Marathon again this year beating her previous time by over an hour.

Her time was under her personal target of five hours in the race run this Sunday (27 April).

She was running to raise funds for two charities. The first charity is the CW+ Sun and Stars Appeal, who are raising money for better facilities for the Children’s Ward at West Middlesex Hospital, and the second is Young Minds, a national mental health charity for young people.

Ms Cadbury said, "Whilst I’m still quite sore, it was great to not only beat my time from last year, but to also meet my own target of finishing the marathon in under 5 hours. I started running quite late in life, and it’s such a good way to keep fit and unwind . I’d like to say a huge congratulations to all fellow runners, and thank you to those who donated to their causes.  I also want to thank the hundreds of volunteers, without whom the London Marathon just wouldn't happen."

She added, "The best part about running the marathon is being able to support amazing charities- I’m so proud to be able to support both CW+ Sun and Stars, and Young Minds. The Sun and Stars Appeal is for new, more child- and parent-friendly facilities in the children’s ward at West Middlesex Hospital. Young Minds do amazing work across the UK to help young people with mental health support needs,  and powerfully raise the issue of the child mental health crisis.

"I’m trying to beat my fundraising target from last year- and I would really appreciate any donations to these great causes via my Virgin Moneygiving page. And a massive thank you to those who have donated already".
