DOES YOUR LOCAL OFFICER FIT THE BILL?

Is your local police officer better than the rest?

The search is on for the Community Constable of the Year 2002 and Londoners are being urged to nominate officers they think deserve the award.

London's police officers deal each day with a variety of crimes, responding to emergency calls and patrolling the streets. Many also help their communities with crime prevention initiatives, enhancing the working relationships between the police and local people.

The award seeks to give recognition to police officers who have made valuable contributions in this significant area of their work.

Nomination forms for this year's awards are available from Metropolitan Police Stations, libraries and sub post offices throughout the Capital.

Completed forms should be sent to Elaine Foster, Publicity Branch, Room 1324, New Scotland Yard, Broadway, London SW1H 0BG. Entries must be marked Community Constable of the Year Award 2002, and should arrive no later than 15th July 2002.

This is the eleventh Metropolitan Police Service Community Constable of the Year Award. The winner will represent the MPS at the national competition, organised by Police Review, later this year.
