The T-Charge has now been implemented in central London which is a sucharge on older and more polluting vehicles.

The start date of the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) for central London has been brought forward to 8 April 2019 and a series of measures have been announced to clean up London’s bus fleet.

TfL are now consulting on detailed proposals for two further initiatives to improve London’s air. These involve:

  • Introducing tougher emissions standards for the Low Emission Zone from 2020, so that they affect heavy vehicles London wide
  • Expanding the ULEZ for light vehicles (cars, vans and motorcycles) from central London to inner London up to, but not including the North and South Circular roads in 2021 so that all vehicles in this area are subject to emissions standards.

It should be noted that the proposed boundary excludes the A4 in Chiswick up to and including the Hogarth roundabout. Kew Bridge and Kew Road are not included in the ULEZ but are boundary roads.
