Police Promise Public They Will Make the Streets Safer
The Metropolitan Police have released a new Pledge to the public, stating their ambitions for the foreseeable future. The Pledge contained 11 points, which can be summarised as follows:
- To always treat the public fairly, with dignity
and respect.
- To keep your
neighbourhood safe from harm.
- To publicise the details of each Safer
Neighbourhoods team so that you know
how to
contact them.
- To respond to every message directed
to any Safer Neighbourhoods team within
24 hours.
- To respond to all calls promptly and let the caller know exactly what will happen next.
- To respond to all accidents swiftly, with a response time of a maximum of 12 minutes.
- To respond to non-emergencies involving vulnerable victims within one hour.
- To arrange appointments with other non-emergency victims within two days.
- To attend regular public meetings at least once a month to discuss priorities and issues.
- To keep victims informed about the progress of cases at least once a month.
- To contact those involved in motoring collisions within 10 working days.
