Pride in Place Funding for Borough Welcomed
Over £1.5 million given to Hounslow to deliver local improvements
The money can be used to help regenerate local high streets

Hounslow has been selected as one of just 95 areas across England to benefit from the Government’s new Pride in Place Impact Fund, receiving £1.5 million over two years to support visible improvements to high streets, public spaces, and community facilities.
The funding is part of a national programme aimed at strengthening civic pride and giving communities a greater say in shaping their local environment. It will support projects that revitalise town centres, enhance parks and green spaces, and upgrade facilities that bring people together.
Councillor Shantanu Rajawat, Leader of Hounslow Council, welcomed the investment saying, “This funding is a timely and welcome addition to the work already underway across Hounslow—from the transformation of our town centres in Hounslow, Brentford and Feltham, to the renewal of public spaces, parks and community hubs.
"It will enable us to build on what we’ve already delivered and accelerate visible improvements that residents, businesses and visitors can see and feel in their daily lives.”
The Pride in Place programme is designed to complement local regeneration strategies, including Hounslow’s Opportunity Business Case for Growth, and will prioritise projects shaped by community input.
Local MP Ruth Cadbury also praised the announcement commenting, “Hounslow is a proud and diverse borough with strong community spirit. Too often, though, our public spaces have been left behind as a result of 14 years of Conservative funding cuts.
"This investment is a chance for local people to lead the way in shaping improvements—from our parks and play areas to our town centres and leisure facilities. We are delighted Hounslow will benefit, and we will work to make sure residents' voices are at the heart of deciding how this funding is used.”
The Brentford and Isleworth MP added that the programme includes new powers for communities to save local pubs and block unwanted betting and vape shops, as part of wider efforts to revitalise neglected high streets.
The Council will begin engaging with residents and stakeholders in the coming months to identify priority projects and ensure the funding delivers lasting impact.
