July 5, 2024 A ‘Renewable Runaround’ was held this week with pupils from two local schools taking part to raise awareness around renewable energy whilst promoting physical fitness. Kew Green Preparatory School invited its partner school Green Dragon Primary School to join it this Monday (1 July) with children from Reception to Year 6 participating over the course of the day. Kew Green Prep’s Environmental and Social Responsibility Lead, Will Parker, put his passion for ultra-marathon into action and wore a solar panel while running around Kew Green from 9.00am – 4.30pm with each year group. The pupils also wore a solar panels in order to collect energy and after their run they helped collect litter on the green. Parents also ran alongside their children and helped with the clean-up of the green. Mrs Sasha Davies, Headteacher at Kew Green Preparatory School, said, “This was a great community event which simultaneously raised awareness of renewable energy whilst promoting fitness, community spirit and raised much needed funds for a local children’s charity”. This initiative will also raise funds for the Kew Green Prep’s chosen charity West London Action for Children (WLAC) with each pupil donating at least £2 via GoFundMe. . Kew Green Preparatory School is a co-educational independent school with a Nursery for pupils aged 2-11.
