85% Get First Choice Primary School in Hounslow Borough
Success rates nationally rising as pupil numbers fall
96% of children were placed at one of their top three choices

Figures released on National Primary Offer Day this Tuesday (16 April) show that 85% of children in Hounslow Borough have gained a place in their first-choice primary school.
This number was broadly similar to the proportion getting their preferred option last year but below the London and national averages.
96% of families in Hounslow were offered one of their top three schools and 98% got a place at one of their six preferred schools.
Across London boroughs there has been an increase in the number of children getting their first choice with 89.1% succeeding compared to 88.5% last year. Kensington and Chelsea had the lowest proportion of children getting their top choice at 75.4%.
For the whole of England 92.5% of pupils offered their first choice a small increase from 92.2% in the previous year.
The rise in success rates, which has been seen both in London and across England, is attributed to falling pupil numbers after a population bulge, that began in the early part of this millennium, has moved through the school system. This has been particularly pronounced in London which saw applications down by 2.2% This fall has been attributed to lower birth rates and families moving out of the capital.
Families should receive an email with the results of their application after 5pm on 16 April. They need to accept their child’s offer using the national online EAdmissions portal by 30 April. After this date it won’t be possible respond online.
Families that were not offered their first choice of school will also be sent a letter on 16 April, explaining their options and next steps.
