Old Bailey Hears Details of Fatal Shooting Near Charing Cross Hospital
Man accused of gunning down cousin at family wake

The Old Bailey has heard harrowing details of a fatal shooting that took place just streets from Charing Cross Hospital in Hammersmith, where emergency teams battled to save the life of 30-year-old Jordan Rodney after he was found critically injured on Claxton Grove on 11 June 2025.
Mr Rodney, who lived in Northolt, was discovered alongside his cousin Omar Joseph, both suffering gunshot wounds. Rodney was rushed to Charing Cross Hospital but died the following day from a close-range shotgun blast to the eye. Omar survived with injuries to his head and hand.
Prosecutors allege the gunman was Rodney’s own cousin, Jahmel Joseph, 29, who is now on trial for murder, attempted murder and firearms offences. The shooting unfolded outside a family wake being held on Claxton Grove, a residential street just a short walk from the hospital’s emergency department.
Jurors heard that a doorbell camera captured the sound of two gunshots at around 11.15pm, moments after a motorcyclist arrived at the scene. The prosecution claims Joseph rode to the wake on a Yamaha motorbike armed with a sawn-off shotgun following an earlier argument with Rodney.
Sky News reports that prosecutor Crispin Aylett KC said the evening had been “very emotional” and that several relatives had noticed Joseph behaving erratically. A recording from a nearby doorbell captured part of a heated exchange between the two men shortly before the shooting.
After the attack, police traced Joseph’s movements using CCTV. His Mercedes was later spotted in Isleworth the next morning, triggering a police pursuit in which around 20 vehicles were damaged before Joseph allegedly fled on foot. He was arrested in a garden on Tolson Road, and officers recovered a black bag containing a sawn-off shotgun. DNA matching Joseph was found on the trigger, the court heard.
The shooting sent shockwaves through the neighbourhood around Charing Cross Hospital, where staff worked through the night to save Rodney’s life. His family later described him as “warm, funny and loving”, saying his death had caused “unimaginable heartbreak”.
