21-year-old Janayo Lucima gunned down on Comeragh Road
April 3, 2024 Police have named the man shot dead in West Kensington on Monday night (1 April) as Janayo Lucima. Although a formal notification has not yet been made his next of kin have been notified. The police say they were called to an address on Comeragh Road at 10:17pm after a disturbance was reported. They found the 21-year-old injured and he was treated at the scene by paramedics but died at 10:54pm. A crime scene remains in place on Comeragh Road but the roads have now reopened to traffic. In 2021, he had been sent to a Young Offenders’ Institution for perverting the course of justice for three years and three months. He had been found guilty of helping to dismember and dispose of the body parts of William ‘Blaise’ Algar who had been murdered by a gang of drug dealers who had taken over his home in Barnes. Detective Chief Inspector Brian Howie, who is leading the investigation, said, “This horrific incident took place at a busy time of the evening when many people in the area would have been going out, coming home from work or an evening out, or may have been driving through Comeragh Road, Barton Road or Palliser Road. I am keen to hear from these people. “Detectives remain in the area and I urge anyone with information to speak to officers directly or contact us online or via 101. If you can help please reach out to us. “Were you in the area between 9.40pm and 10.30pm? Did you see a group of males on foot or on the bikes? Did you hear any shouting or witness any type of altercation or something that appeared suspicious? Do you have dashcam footage of anything that could assist our investigation? “If you can help our investigation or have concerns please do approach officers as they patrol the area. Alternatively, please contact your neighbourhood policing team.” The investigation continues and information can be shared directly with the investigation team on this link.
