Shakil McCrea accused of killing Sean O'Neill in Hayes
May 25, 2023 A 26-year-old man from West Kensington is facing a charge of murder relating to the death of a man in Hayes earlier this month. Shakil McCrea of Sinclair Road appeared at Wimbledon Magistrates' Court on Thursday 25 May. 30-year-old construction worker Sean O’Neill died on Reynolds Road shortly after 6:51pm on Thursday 18 May after receiving stab wounds to the chest and abdomen. Paramedics battled in vain to save his life, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. His family have been informed of the charges and are being supported by officers from the Met's Specialist Crime Command, who lead the investigation. A second man who was arrested on suspicion of murder in West Drayton on 22 May along with Mr McCrea has been bailed. There were earlier incidents of disorder before the attack at around 4.45pm involving two groups of men in and around the Yeading Lane and Willow Tree Lane area of Hayes which police believe may be linked. In a statement, Sean's family said, “We are completely heartbroken by the loss of our beautiful son and brother, Sean. It is especially difficult given the violent and cruel way that it has happened. He was incredibly loved and we have been overwhelmed by all of the kind words that have been shared about him from those who knew him.” If you have information that could assist detectives you are asked to call 101 quoting CAD 6840/18May.
