Former care home to become 25 new houses and flats

A meeting of Hammersmith and Fulham Council's planning application committee on Wednesday May 8 has given the go ahead for 25 new homes to be built at 282 - 292 Goldhawk Road, on the corner of the road and Ashchurch Grove.

The existing building, a former care home known as Elizabeth Finn House has been empty since 2006, and will be demolished to make way for the new homes.

The application made by a company called Firstwood Investments through agents Jones Lang Lasalle is for redevelopment of the site to provide three one bedroom flats, seven three bedroom houses and 15 four bedroom houses plus 22 car parking spaces and associated landscaping and amenity space.

Planning officers had recommended the application should be approved saying: " The proposed demolition is considered to be acceptable on the basis that planning
permission exists for a satisfactory redevelopment scheme. Accordingly, it is not considered that the demolition would have an unacceptable impact on the
character or appearance of the conservation area."

This development was one of a number of applications granted approval at the meeting, including a roof level two floor extension for Westfield.

However, plans to redevelop the former Nomis Studios in Sinclair Road, Olympia, where stars such as Tina Turner and Dire Straits have recorded, were turned down.

They were deemed an "overdevelopment of the site" by the council’s planning officers. Developer Regal Sinclair Road LLP has applied to demolish the existing buildings on the site and replace them with 52 flats.

In Hammersmith, plans for a three storey extension to the Access Self Storage building at 184 Shepherds Bush Road, opposite Brook Green, and to change the building’s use from storage to offices, were greenlighted as was restaurant chain Wagamame's redevelopment of The Old Fire Station, also on Shepherds Bush Road.
