On 19 November Watermans welcomes Rising, the award-winning debut performance that launched the career of international dancer and choreographer Aakash Odedra.

This is the only performance in London on the tour and the evening features four distinct solos by acclaimed artists Akram Khan, Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui, Russell Maliphant, and Aakash himself.

Created in 2011, this revival is an opportunity to experience an evening of dance which has been described as astonishing.

Each work draws on Aakash’s traditional background in kathak and bharatanatyam to create a distinct flavour of contemporary dance.

Rising is an award-winning production, receiving international acclaim including a Dora Award for Best Male Performance, Canada; Danza & Danza Award, Italy; Audience Award Dance Week, Croatia and Most Original Exploration of One Segment of Theatrical Language at the Novi-Sad Festival, Serbia. Aakash also received his second Bessie nomination for Outstanding Performer for Rising.

Tickets are £15 or £14 for concessions. Booking: watermans.org.uk / 020 8232 1010.

This site remains committed to providing local community news and public interest journalism.

Articles such as the one above are integral to what we do. We aim to feature as much as possible on local societies, charities based in the area, fundraising efforts by residents, community-based initiatives and even helping people find missing pets.

We've always done that and won't be changing, in fact we'd like to do more.

However, the readership that these stories generates is often below that needed to cover the cost of producing them. Our financial resources are limited and the local media environment is intensely competitive so there is a constraint on what we can do.

If neither of these amounts is suitable for you then contact info@neighbournet.com and we can set up an alternative. All payments are made through a secure web site.

One-off donations are also appreciated. Choose The Amount You Wish To Contribute.
