Riverside Studios has relaunched its cinema under the name Hammersmith Cinema, unveiling a refurbished foyer and announcing a wide-ranging programme of screenings for August and September.
The venue now features two screens: a main auditorium with over 200 seats and 4K projection, and a smaller 48-seat screen equipped with 2K projection. Standard ticket prices range from £7 to £13, with reduced rates available for under-25s, concessions, and off-peak showings. A new membership scheme, the Riverside Pass, offers benefits including six free tickets per year, discounted prices, priority booking, and complimentary popcorn at each visit. Additional incentives include free small popcorn for children under 12 every day, and for all ticket holders on Mondays.
The cinema’s relaunch programme includes a mix of new releases, classic films, cult favourites, world cinema, and special events. Among the contemporary titles are The Naked Gun, Friendship, Materialists, Weapons, and The Life of Chuck, with select screenings designed for parents with babies. Classic and cult films include My Beautiful Laundrette, introduced by writer Hanif Kureishi, Sense and Sensibility, Fargo, The Big Lebowski, This is Spinal Tap, O Brother, Where Art Thou?, Jaws, and the pilot episode of Twin Peaks, which will be accompanied by coffee and cherry pie.
The world cinema strand features Son of Sardaar 2, Saiyaara, and the African Cultural Documentary Series scheduled for 7 September. The London Spanish Film Festival will present several titles including Molt Lluny (Away), Warhol – Vijande: Mas Que Pistolas, Cuchillos Y Cruces with a Q&A, Desmontando Un Elefante (Dismantling an Elephant), Antes De Nós (Before Nós), and La Furia (The Fury).
Special events include a screening of National Theatre Live: Inter Alia on 4 September, a documentary and tasting event titled Sparkling: The Story of Champagne on 8 September, and Doctor Who: Projections In Time – Resurrection Of The Daleks on 14 September, featuring guest appearances. The cinema will also host immersive listening sessions under the Pitchblack Playback banner, where audiences experience music in complete darkness using the venue’s surround sound system. Upcoming sessions include Soundgarden’s Superunknown on 19 August, Twin Peaks – Season Two Music and More on 28 August, and David Bowie’s Live At Montreux on 12 September.

Curzon Cinemas has confirmed plans to open a new five-screen venue on King Street in Hammersmith as part of the Civic Campus redevelopment. The cinema is currently under construction, and while no official opening date has been announced, the broader Civic Campus project is expected to be completed by the end of October 2025
Riverside Studios says that the Hammersmith Cinema aims to offer a diverse and inclusive programme that reflects the local community, combining mainstream and independent films with international selections and curated events. The relaunch marks a new chapter for Riverside Studios, with expanded facilities including a bar serving craft drinks and a bakery offering snacks and toasties.
