As part of the Totally Thames Festival 2022, Riverside Artists Group (RAG) is holding a new exhibition - Many Rivers To Cross.
Member artists will be showing new work themed on the River Thames, or as a metaphorical interpretation of the nature and influence of rivers.
The exhibition will take place in the gallery spaces at Riverside Studios (W6 9BN), opening Friday 2 September and running daily until Sunday 2 October.
Each artist is collaborating with another maker, poet, object or app to create work ranging from visual media to performance, poetry and sound. There will be daily postings about the show on Instagram @riversideartistsgroup throughout September.
This exhibition continues the river theme launched in 2021, a series of exhibitions and events last September.
As part of the programme, there will be related workshops with residents of the nearby St. Vincent’s Care Home, and other free public events at Riverside Studios.
There will be a free installation performance on Friday 2 September at 5.45pm lasting for about 15 minutes to launch the show in the main foyer. It will include live movement-based performance by dance artist Giacomo Pini, collaborating with member Martin Ireland.
Free Stained Glass Lantern Workshops are taking place on Saturdays 10 & 17 September from 2-4.30pm. Join Máire Gartland and Janey Hagger to create lanterns with stained glass collage, which will be lit at dusk for an early evening Lantern Walk across Hammersmith Bridge on 24 September.
A Spontaneous Art & Storytelling performance and workshop takes place on Saturday 24 September, 3-5pm. This is a collaboration between Felicity Swan and oral storyteller Belinda McKenna-Bicknell, of Curious House of Stories - a combination of intuitive drawing and storytelling.

RAG was formed in 1986 at Riverside Studios, Hammersmith. It followed an open submission exhibition to which there was such a large response that a meeting was organise which led to the formation of a group, comprising established and emerging artists, came together.
RAG’s aim is to encourage and promote the interaction and practice of a diverse group of visual artists living or working in West London. It provides a network for an exchange of ideas and information. Members initiate and develop projects and exhibit in both self-selected and curated
Shows.
