Putney is ready to rock and row with this year’s music festival taking place over boat race weekend
From Friday to Sunday more than 40 live acts will be performing in venues across Putney and over 100,000 people are expected to visit the town centre. Now in its thirteenth year, the event is an established highlight of the capital’s music scene and south London’s answer to the Camden Crawl. Around 20 of Putney’s bars, pubs, restaurants and clubs will be hosting live acts, playing everything from rock, opera, Spanish, Latin, folk and blues. The line-up includes old favourites plus a host of new bands - including some of the capital’s best up-and-coming artists. The three day event offers culinary as well as musical treats, with food stalls at St Mary’s Church and an Italian food market in Church Square (by the Odeon). The world famous Boat Race takes place on the Saturday, starting at around 4.30pm from Putney Bridge - see www.theboatrace.org for more information. Musical highlights include:
Carluccios (Putney Wharf) is offering an incredible Friday eating experience with dinner accompanied by live opera - pre-booking essential. The Boathouse, (Putney Wharf) welcomes back Scalectrix and Fake Tan, along with Lola Jones and The Big Hand, plus the boys from Marner Brown on Sunday.
