Acton Flood Action Committee Meeting

Tuesday January 25th at the King's Head

OFWAT – the economic regulator for the water and sewerage industry – has approved a big increase in Thames Water’s budget for the next five years. This extra money – in part – is for Thames Water to tackle the problem of sewer flooding.

Acton Flood Action Committee is urging local residents to get together, act decisively and present the case for sewer improvement in Acton as strongly as possible so that Thames Water prioritise work in Acton and prevent homes from being flooded again.

The objectives of the meeting are:

1. To approve the name “Acton Flood Action Committee” through which joint representations to appropriate organisations will be made.
2. To elect officers to the Action Committee.
3. To start a “fighting fund” with opening contributions of £5/household.
4. To approve the content of letters and supporting documents to the Council, Thames Water, Water Voice and OFWAT.
5. To agree a supporting Public Relations/Publicity strategy.
6. To agree a date for a further meeting.

 The meeting will be held on Tuesday January 25, 2005 at 7.30 pm. Councillor John Delaney will be in the chair and Clive Soley MP is expected to attend.
