If it has, you know the impact that just one  employee with health problems can have on your business. A new free NHS Plus service, run locally, will help reduce staff absenteeism and its impact on small businesses in the area.

Along with the pressures of running a small business, managers or owners are often thrown into the role of dealing with a range of complex health issues, such as coping with an employee who is off work for a long period of time with back pain, or someone who frequently takes days off sick, or trying to support a staff member who wants to keep working but has physical or mental ill health concerns.

The free 'Health for Work Adviceline' from NHS Plus is purely aimed at small and medium businesses. Rather than just directing employees to their GP, employers and managers can call the adviceline for free on 0800 0 77 88 44 for immediate and confidential advice from NHS occupational health professionals on all physical and mental ill-health issues.
