New exhibits at Emery Walker's House going on display
A small but insightful exhibition is opening at Emery Walker’s House this June exploring Morris & Co. wallpaper from the perspective of the interiors of 7 Hammersmith Terrace. Thea house museum boasts one of the largest in situ collections of hand blocked Morris & Co. wallpapers in the world. Highlights of the new display include an original Morris & Co. wallpaper block in ‘Apple’ design shown beside the original Apple wallpaper which decorates the former dressing room in the house. The Walkers’ Walls: A Study of Morris & Co. Wallpapers is included in the 1.5 hour guided tours of the entire house and riverside garden from 2 June to 26 November 2022. Visitor numbers are limited, due to the fragile, historic interiors, so pre booking is essential via Emerywalker.org.uk. Lucinda MacPherson The Emery Walker Trust is a registered charity which aims to preserve and open the House for as many people to enjoy as possible. The Trust also aims to improve knowledge of the Arts & Crafts movement and the life and work of Sir Emery Walker.
