Christmas Worker � Hungry, Homeless

Mission: To assist marginalized homeless people Description: Serving meals to hungry, homeless people, washing up and tidying up. Skills and qualifications: None required but a cheerful personality an asset. Worker � Christmas Hamper Scheme

Description: Helping to wrap and deliver Christmas presents to selected tenants.
This is an ideal opportunity for those who would like to help out at this time of year, but don't have a lot of time on their hands.
Skills and qualifications: Friendliness and approachability, sense of humour, enthusiasm, reliability, understanding and sensitivity.

Christmas Catering Assistants/Befrienders

Mission: The Salvation Army's activities are part of the outreach of the Christian faith and the Army aims to help the community.
Description: Preparing food and setting out tables on Christmas Eve, and on Christmas Day helping people to their seats, serving food and being a friend for the day.
The food and company are for people who would otherwise be on their own, mainly elderly people.
Skills and qualifications: None required but a cheerful personality an asset.

Befrienders - Christmas

When required: 23.12.2004 � 30.12.2004. Each day has 3 shifts which last 8-9 hours. Volunteers are asked to do a minimum of 2 shifts during the week.
Mission: To run six shelters for homeless and vulnerably housed people across London at Christmas, providing beds and meals, and providing services and companionship. Also to offer services throughout the year.
Description: Helping as a Service Volunteer eg doctor, dentist, optician, advice worker etc. Helping as a General Volunteer e.g. greeting guests, giving out clothing and toiletries, looking after the guests' luggage store, keeping fire watch in sleeping areas, cleaning etc. Chatting with guests and making them feel welcome.
Skills and qualifications: None required but a cheerful personality an asset.

Mission: To assist charities with their trading operations, particularly the sale of Christmas cards. Card Aid works to further peace and education, to preserve buildings and monuments of historic value, to advance medical research and care, and to relieve poverty and suffering.
Description: Helping to create and maintain a seasonal and lively atmosphere. Selling Christmas cards, using the till, dealing with customers, stocking and pricing.
Skills and qualifications: Numeracy and people skills needed. Retail experience is useful but not essential.

Other details: Volunteers should be over 18.
