The Ealing Central and Acton MP will be dj-ing between sets at the Oxjam Festival which takes place on Monday (28 August) at the Castle Inn St Mary’s Road in Ealing. The day-long music event will to raise funds for Oxfam and feature local acts including covers band Brace Yourself, whose line-up includes Simon, the mastermind behind Ealing Gin manufactured locally in a South Ealing kitchenette and supplied to Harrods. Dr Huq will be on the decks providing the soundtrack between acts throughout from 1pm. She began her DJing career locally in 1988 for Central Middlesex hospital radio station and last played the pre-launch of the Ealing Project venue. She says she excited to return to the decks telling us, “The Oxfam record and music shop was where I had my first Summer job as a teenager so when current manager Graeme told me of his plan to hold a local festival for such a great cause I jumped at the chance. Oxfam’s mission to tackle gender inequality and climate change also appeals to me”. The live music festival occurs all over the country and took place virtually during COVID-19. Graeme Smith of Ealing Oxfam said, “I’m proud to run Oxfam Ealing Green with my young talented team. The Oxjam festival on bank holiday Monday is all about putting Ealing’s musical talent towards the fight against global poverty”. Some great raffle prizes are promised with proceeds all going to Oxfam. Current projects provide food and safe, clean water including for people caught up in disasters and conflict around the world. Ealing Summer Oxjam will take place on Monday 28 August from 1pm at the Castle Inn (36 St Mary’s Road, Ealing, W5 5EU). Free entry, all welcome.
