Visitor Parking Costs Increased Across Ealing Borough |

All day permits for CPZs up by a fifth to six pounds
December 18, 2024 A new fee schedule came into effect last week for visitor parking in Controlled Parking Zones in the borough of Ealing. The hourly rate has been increased from 90p to a £1 and the all-day rate is up by 21% from £4.95 to £6. Ealing no longer issues paper vouchers for visitor parking and it is paid for by PayByPhone either through the app or by phone. A booking fee of 20p is added when the app is used. Unlike for the residents’ permits, there is no emissions based fee scale for visitor parking. The council is proposing to make ten CPZs operational all day which previously had limited restricted hours. This would mean many more people would need to pay the full daily charge than before. Neighbouring Hounslow Council still sells paper vouchers with a book of 30 hour long permits costing £23.63 or the equivalent of 79p. Residents can apply for up to ten books of permits within a twelve-month period. Hounslow doesn’t offer all day permits so the hourly rate in an Ealing CPZ operating from 9am to 6pm is cheaper if the vehicle is parked all day. A spokesperson for Ealing Council said, “Ealing Council is making a small increase to its parking fees and visitor permits across the borough, bringing its fees in line with other boroughs and as part of its work to make the borough a healthier, safer and greener place to live. Ealing is a well-connected borough with great transport connections but the way we travel – especially short car journeys – is causing high levels of congestion, air pollution and carbon emissions. “The council is working on a new transport strategy that will address these issues, but changes also need to be made to the way we park and use parking spaces to reduce the number of cars on the roads and prioritise parking for residents and vulnerable members of the community who need parking the most.”
