Opposition party wants to hear views and experiences of residents
October 12, 2023 The Liberal Democrats in the borough of Ealing have launched a survey on crime in the borough. The official opposition want to hear the views and experiences of local people on crime and antisocial behaviour including the issue of blue badge thefts. The party says that crime levels across Ealing are too high and many people are afraid of anti-social behaviour especially in the late evenings. Using the results of the survey, which the Lib Dems says will only take a few minutes to complete, councillors will approach the council and the colice with suggestions for action. The party claims it has already delivered some positive outcomes in the borough including Cllr Connie Hersch, who is the Opposition Spokesperson on Communities, Crime and Anti-Social Behaviour, managing to get the council to reverse its policy of dimming street lights and Cllr Athena Zissimos working with the police and the Council's Street Enforcement Team to get abandoned cars removed in Hanger Hill. Cllr Hersch has also met with the Police Borough Commander for Ealing to discuss the Metropolitan Police's turnaround plan to change the culture of the organisation and improve standards and, along with Lib Dem group leader Gary Malcolm, has taking up the concerns of residents in Hanwell by meeting the Neighbourhood Policing Team on a walk around the area. Liberal Democrat Councillor Connie Hersch, said, “Liberal Democrats are aware that residents are feeling vulnerable, want to feel safer when out in Ealing and concerned for their property at home. We are keen to listen to your views and experiences of policing, crime and anti-social behaviour across Ealing so we can speak to the police and Ealing Council to make recommendations to them about how they can reduce crime especially in hot spot areas.” Click here to complete the survey.
