Police are appealing for witnesses and information after a teenager was stabbed in Acton.

Officers were called at approximately 3:40pm on Saturday July 10th (during the Acton Carnival) to reports of a stabbing outside* [sic] a bingo hall in Melville Villas Road at the junction with the Uxbridge Road.

An 18-year-old man was taken to hospital with stab wounds. He remains at hospital. His condition is serious, but not believed life-threatening.

Detective Inspector James Raphael of Ealing CID said: "Although the incident was not connected to the Acton Carnival, which was taking place nearby, the area was very busy. We need to hear from anyone who witnessed anything suspicious or has information that may assist police."

A 17-year-old male youth has been arrested in connection with the investigation. He remains in custody at a west London police station.

*Police info said outside a bingo hall in Melville Villas Road but we assume the incident happened opposite the Bingo Hall if it was in Melville Villas Rd
