Emergency repair works by Thames Water to repair a damaged water main near Chiswick Roundabout have been completed earlier than expected.

The North Circular (A406) was closed northbound between Chiswick Roundabout and Gunnersbury Avenue by Pope's Lane. Originally this was expected to last for ten days from last Friday.

The works caused major traffic problems over the Bank Holiday weekend as traffic was diverted along Chiswick High Road and up Acton Lane.

Public transport in the area was also hit. The District Line was shut Saturday to Monday between Ealing Broadway and Turnham Green and the Central line was suspended between Ealing Broadway and North Acton. The London Overground service between Richmond and Stratford was also not operating on Sunday and Monday.
