After thrilling win against Charterhouse in ISFA cup semis
In a gripping semi-final on Tuesday afternoon, Latymer Upper School Under 15 Football Team climbed back from two goals down against Charterhouse to win a place in the Final of the Independent Schools Football Association Cup. Charterhouse, a much-fancied team for the final, seemed to be winning the battle in the first half, scoring two great goals. But come the second half, Latymer became a different side, and Charterhouse didn’t stand a chance. Chuck Davidson-Houston scored twice, taking the match into extra-time. Just as the whistle blew to mark the end of the first half of extra-time, Marcus Burling headed Latymer into a 3-2 lead. The fourth goal was another header, this time from Orlando Del Maestro, from an inch-perfect free kick from Sam Jones. Speaking after the match, Peter Winter, the Head, who was on the sidelines cheering his side on throughout the match said: Latymer now progress to the final of the ISFA cup, playing at Burton Albion’s Pirelli Stadium on Thursday, 6th March. The opposition is yet to be decided. January 24, 2008
