Not enough to keep the M4 out of list of Britain’s most boring roads

It may have had live dancing billboards and a six-storey 'Stairway to Heaven' but the apparently mind-numbing M4 has been named amongst the country’s most boring roads.

Ranking six in the top ten just behind the M40, heavy traffic was cited the main reason for drivers’ boredom in a recent poll of company car drivers.

42% of motorists surveyed said they lose their concentration when driving on boring roads leading to a higher level of accidents.

A spokesperson for Lex, who conducted the survey, said, "With congestion being a common occurrence on the majority of the UK's major routes, it's no surprise that our research showed drivers are bored by being stuck in traffic.”

The A40 also featured in the top ten with the M1 voted the most boring road of all.
