Workers from Groundwork charity join the fundraising
Five dedicated workers from local charity Groundwork London were among thousands of women who participated in a day of fundraising for cancer research UK on Sunday 18 July. Dressed head to toe in pink, the ladies did the 5km race through Hyde Park together with 17,000 others to raise money for Cancer Research UK’s groundbreaking work to beat cancer. Vivienne Brown participated in Race for Life in support of her father, who
is in remission from non-hodgkin’s lymphoma. Completing the race in 40
minutes, she said: “I have never run so far before, but all the training
was worth it to do something positive and inspirational to beat cancer.” Lisa who is a Fundraising Co-Ordinator at Groundwork London in Acton said: “I have been raising funds for Cancer Research through various events and
activities over the last two years as several friends and family members
have had various forms of cancer. For the last seven months my mum has had
breast cancer and will hopefully recover and be given the all clear soon. Lisa is also planning a celeb-studded fundraising and awareness-raising event in 2011 in aid of Cancer Research UK, where her mother will be displaying her own works of art.
