Local MP Mary Macleod has been appointed to the position of Parliamentary Private Secretary to Rt Hon Nick Herbert MP, Minister of State for Policing and Criminal Justice. The appointment is effective immediately and means that Mary is unable to continue serving on the Home Affairs Select Committee.

A Parliamentary Private Secretary (PPS) is a Minister's assistant in Parliament. He or she is the 'eyes and ears' of the Minister in the House of Commons. It is an unpaid role. The appointment was approved by David Cameron on Friday 10th September along with a number of other PPS appointments.

Mary said: “It is a privilege to be appointed as PPS to Nick Herbert and I look forward to supporting him in this role”.
