Latymer Upper pupil Alia winner at London Young Musician competition
May 18, 2023 Acton-based Alia, who is currently in Year 9 at Latymer Upper School, has been named “Pianist of the Year” at the London Young Musician (LYM) of the Year 2023 competition in the under 15 category. She received lavish praise from the LYM Annual Awards Team who congratulated her on her ‘spectacular achievement’ adding, “Her performance was nothing short of exceptional, leaving both the jury panel and audience in awe.” In addition, Alia has been nominated by the international jury panel for the prestigious "Annual Maestro Piano Performance Prize" This special recognition is bestowed upon a select few musicians who have made an unforgettable impact on the jury panel. The awards team continued, “With each passing year, the competition grows more intense, with talent emerging from every corner of the globe, reaching unprecedented heights! By making it to the final round, you have truly exemplified excellence. We couldn't be prouder of your remarkable achievements! “We extend our heartfelt gratitude for sharing your wonderful performance and creative talent with our global musical community. Your accomplishments in the 2022-23 competition year have filled us with immense pride. We eagerly anticipate the chance to witness your remarkable performances again in the near future!” Mr Henwood, Director of Music at Alia’s school said, “This annual event brings together outstanding musicians from all corners of the world, and it is no easy feat to stand out among such a talented pool of participants. “Alia is an outstanding talent and she rightly deserves this prestigious award for her hard work and dedication.”
