Acts to include The Libertines and Supergrass
May 1, 2025 Permission is being sought for a change of use for the Old Cricket Pitch on Gunnersbury Park between 6-17 August to allow for a series of live music events. Gunnersbury Estate (2026) CIC, which manages the park, has made the application (P/2025/1261) on behalf of Festival Republic which organises Gunnersbury Live. The events will require the area to be closed off to the public between 28 July and 23 August and ermission is being sought for up to eight events with a maximum attendance of 25,000. The application states that the proposal aims to preserve the openness, heritage assets, and ecological features of Gunnersbury Park which is a Grade II listed historic park and part of a conservation area. There will be temporary installations only and no permanent harm anticipated. The claims in the application are supported by environmental, acoustic, and transport assessments. A Sound Management Plan is in place, which is aligned with existing licence conditions. Net profits from the event will be reinvested into Gunnersbury Park's upkeep. The Festival Republic events begin on Friday 8 August with Pawsa in the Park when the tech-house DJ and producer performs in an all-day show. The following day (Saturday 9 August) The Libertines and Supergrass headline with The Smashing Pumpkins topping the bill on Sunday (10 August) with special guests Skunk Anansie, White Lies, Vowws, and Rocket. Then on Friday 15 August, Khruangbin are performing. The Texas-based trio won the Grammy for Best New Artist last year. The final show will be by Dutch DJ and record producer Martin Garrix on Saturday (16 August). The application is for eight shows but only four are currently being promoted by Festival Republic. This is believed to complete the line up of major events in the park this year. They begin later this month with Pub in the Park running from Friday 30 May to Sunday 1 June with its fusion of live music and gourmet food, featuring performances by Soul II Soul, Jack Savoretti, The Amy Winehouse Band, and tribute acts like Noasis and Blur2. The Soho House Festival is taking place on Thursday 3 July when it celebrates its 30th anniversary, with acts like The Streets, Texas, and a DJ set from Groove Armada. Set-up for this event begins on 23 June with clearance by 11 July. Waterworks 2025 is taking place this year from 12-14 September. The festival kicks off on Friday 12 September with “Annie Mac Presents Before Midnight”, followed by Waterworks on Saturday and D’n’B Allstars on Sunday. 13,000 tickets will be available for Friday with 15,000 on Saturday and Sunday. The area will be needed from 1 September for set up and until 19 September for disassembly. It is understood that there will be no Secret Cinema event in the park this year with the event switching to Battersea Park.
