Gunnersbury Park & Museum is to run another Community Choice vote to allow the public to pick a project to be implemented in 2024.

A previous vote, in which over 600 people participated, saw the most support for a scheme to plant new hedgerows to bring new habitats to the park. The projects are funded by the some of profits the park gets from hosting events during the summer months.

This year there are three new projects to choose from. The public can vote to bring new benches to the park by the sports fields, give bursaries for schools with a high percentage of free school meals to attend an immersive education programme who would otherwise miss out, or purchase outdoor gym equipment which would be free for all to use.

In 2023 Gunnersbury was host to award-winning artists, outdoor theatre and the circus, and tens of thousands of people paid to attend the events. It was pledged that a percentage of the profits would be directed back to the local community. This year Gunnersbury says it is doubling the amount of money available for the local community to choose how it will be spent to benefit the area.

The Community Choice projects have been championed by staff members from the Gunnersbury Team. To watch the videos about the project and to vote click here.

Voting ends on Tuesday 2 January and the winning project will be announced on Wednesday 3 January.

Professor James Knowles, Chair of Gunnersbury Museum and Park Development Trust said, “The Community Choice initiative gives our local community a chance to vote for a project at Gunnersbury, funded from the profits of our summer events, which will benefit them. There’s three really worthwhile projects to choose from, so make sure you watch the videos and cast your vote before 2 January. May the best project win!”

This site remains committed to providing local community news and public interest journalism.

Articles such as the one above are integral to what we do. We aim to feature as much as possible on local societies, charities based in the area, fundraising efforts by residents, community-based initiatives and even helping people find missing pets.
