Green Party Pull Out Of Ealing Central and Acton Seat | |||||
First tactical withdrawal of 2017 election
The Green Party won't be fielding a candidate in the key seat of Ealing Central and Acton in a bid to help Labour. The announcement was made this week after the local party meeting. The seat is a key marginal and will be closely contested after being taken by Labour in the last election with just 274 majority. The Green Party said the decision was based on three public commitments made by current MP, Rupa Huq, to campaign for voting reform, to oppose a hard Brexit and to oppose a third runway and airport expansion. Ms Huq tweeted the news saying: '' I welcome In the last election Tom Sharman won 1,841 votes for the Greens. The Party say they intend to field candidates in Ealing North and Ealing Southall. The Liberal Democrats announced that Jon Ball will be their candidate in Ealing Central and Acton - the Conservatives have not yet revealed who will be fighting the seat on June 8th. 25 April 2016 |
