Thieves Steal Lead From Putney Vale Crematorium & Chapel Roof

Police appeal for witnesses

The theft is believed to have happened in the early hours of Friday morning when thieves climbed onto the roof and stripped it of its lead flashings.

Despite the theft funeral services at the crematorium have not been affected. Temporary repairs have been carried out to ensure that the building can continue to be used.

Thefts of this kind from church roofs and community halls have been on the increase in recent months because of sharp increases in the price of lead and other scrap metals.
