Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision in Hanwell on the morning Thursday 25th October involving a car and a refuse lorry.

A black Ford Focus was in a head-on collision with a Green Dennis refuse lorry outside number 12 Boston Gardens.

Fire crews attended the scene and cut the driver out of his badly damaged car.

The man, who was in his forties, was taken to Ealing Hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly afterward. He has been named as Leonard Neckles aged 43 of West Ealing. He suffered from high blood pressure and it is believed he may have passed out at the wheel.

The lorry was part of the ECT fleet employed by Ealing Council.

Officers from the Collision Investigation Unit at Alperton Traffic Garage are appealing for anyone who saw the collision or the events leading up to it to contact them on 020 8998 5319.
